CCAI Twin Cities Hosts Minnesota Paint & Powder Expo

The 2018 Minnesota Paint & Powder Coating Expo and related symposium will take place March 14-15, at Century College in White Bear Lake, near St. Paul. The Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) at the University of Minnesota is a co-host.

The Twin Cities chapter of Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI) and the Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) at the University of Minnesota will host the 2018 Minnesota Paint & Powder Coating Expo and related symposium, March 14-15, at Century College in White Bear Lake, near St. Paul. The two days of seminars and demonstrations are geared toward improving the efficiency of industrial finishing operations.

Symposium

The symposium will take place Wednesday, March 14, and will focus on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and how finishers can take advantage of the IIoT to remain competitive. It will cover:

  • Internet security (protecting communication and the exchange of data)
  • Equipment considerations and process integration
  • Case studies from a local company with recent installations.


Also on March 14, the Iowa Waste Reduction Center will provide liquid industrial painter training in which attendees can learn to improve their finishing techniques on virtual reality spray equipment. Class size is limited, but both a morning and an afternoon session of this training are available. 

Expo

The Minnesota Paint & Powder Coating Expo will be held Thursday, March 15, and will feature presentation tracks on pretreatment, equipment and materials. A vendor showcase of products and services from 40 industry suppliers will be held from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
