Question:

Our plating shop is in the process of evaluating our rinsing and use of water with a goal of reducing the amount of water that we use. Where can I get information to help me with this project? J.S.

Answer:

There are a number of sources of information available. You can start with the chapter on Rinsing in the Metal Finishing 2003 Guidebook and Directory, Metal Finishing Publications. There is an article on PF Online, "The Analysis and Design of Rinsing Installations," at www.pfonline.com/articles/web070001.html. A book, Water and Waste Control for the Plating Shop, 3rd ed., by J.B. Kushner and A.S. Kushner available from Kushner Electroplating School, 408-749-8652, www.platingschool.com, is also a good source of information on all aspects of rinsing and water management.
