The Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI) and Workshops for Warriors are partnering to develop an industrial finishing certificate program for Workshops for Warriors students, scheduled to be launched in 2019.

CCAI officials say the program, Finishing for Warriors, will provide military veterans, Wounded Warriors and transitioning service members the opportunity to participate in quality training and receive a certificate to prepare them for a career in industrial finishing at a variety of levels. The CCAI-developed curriculum will include several certificate programs, including in liquid coating, powder coating, master liquid coating, master powder coating and master finishing. Program duration ranges from four to 16 weeks, and includes both classroom and hands-on learning.

“Workshops for Warriors always talks about the idea that people love veterans, but loving a veteran doesn’t make them a good welder, fabricator or machinist,” says Hernán Luis y Prado, Workshops for Warriors founder and CEO. “We look forward to adding additional courses of instruction in 2019 for those interested in pursuing a career in industrial finishing. CCAI is the best at what they do, and we are honored to have them on our side as we bring advanced manufacturing back to America, one veteran at a time.”

“The Finishing for Warriors program aligns perfectly with CCAI’s initiative to increase awareness of the finishing industry and the quality careers it offers,” adds CCAI Executive Director Anne Goyer. “We are honored to be able to provide this program in conjunction with Workshops for Warriors to assist in training and placing our nation’s veterans, Wounded Warriors and transitioning service members.”

To be held at the Workshops for Warriors facility in San Diego, program training materials will be provided by CCAI for students at no cost. In addition, CCAI will work with members to secure donations of equipment and installation required for hands-on training and will identify qualified personnel to teach both the liquid and powder coating curricula.
