Liquid and Powder Coat Top Shops Survey Starts in December, Along with Plating
For the first time, the liquid and powder coating part of the Products Finishing Top Shops Benchmarking Survey will take place simultaneously with the electroplating section of the survey for the 2020 program.
Both surveys will open Dec. 1 and close by the end of the month. Previously, the liquid and powder coating survey was done in May of each year, but the surveys will now run concurrently. The results will be published in April for the electroplating operations and in June for the liquid and powder coating shops. However, custom reports from both surveys will be sent out in early February for both types of operations so that facilities can measure their effectiveness against other shops in North America.

Masking is employed in most any metal finishing operation where only a specifically defined area of the surface of a part must be exposed to a process. Conversely, masking may be employed on a surface where treatment is either not required or must be avoided. This article covers the many aspects of masking for metal finishing, including applications, methods and the various types of masking employed.
