Louisiana Plating & Coatings opened its new 80,000 sq. ft. plating and coatings facility in Scott, Louisiana in July. With its opening, the plant is now providing Louisiana area industries a variety of corrosion protection services, including salt bath nitriding, phosphate, and spray coatings. In July, the electroless nickel plating line also opened.

 

LP&C is a wholly-owned division of Houston Plating & Coatings, a 20+ year-old Houston-based provider of corrosion prevention services.

 

“We are excited to open the plant with the QPQ, phosphate and spray coatings lines operating, especially because of the response we have already received from Louisiana-based companies, especially those in the oilfield service business,” said William Howard, CEO of HP&C. “HP&C has a significant customer base in Louisiana and having these services available in Louisiana will significantly decrease the turn-around times for those and other Louisiana based manufacturers. We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality plating and coating services delivered with outstanding customer service, getting the job done right, on time and on budget.”

 

Under construction for the past year, the plant encompass nearly three and one-half acres under roof with :

 

• A 20 foot (3200 gal.) EN tank capable of handling large parts;

 

• Two SBN/QPQ lines;

 

• Two 10 foot ovens and two 25’spray booths;

 

• A phosphate line large enough to handle a 20,000 lb. part;

 

• A 10,000 sq. foot spray coatings and phosphate building, including five and ten ton cranes.

 

Howard pointed out that the new Louisiana plant is a continuation of HP&C’s planned expansion of its facilities, which includes expanding operations at the company’s Humble, and Tyler, Texas plants.

 

Louisiana Plating & Coatings is a wholly owned division of Houston Plating & Coatings. Located in Scott, Louisiana, a city of 8,000 located west of Lafayette, the facility will serve Louisiana’s vital and growing oilfield service industry offering a variety of corrosion protection surface treatments including electroless nickel plating, QPQ, phosphate, and spray coating treatments.
