Norton will feature its new Rapid Prep XHD Coarse and Medium discs, designed for aggressive stock removal and blending. The extra-heavy-duty non-woven discs remove weld lines, weld splatter and weld discoloration, and blend surfaces in a single step, the company says. XHD Coarse are said to be well-suited for aggressive weld removal and surface blending on steels, while XHD Medium discs work well on softer metals/alloys.

The discs combine a conformable fiber matrix and premium ceramic grain, resulting in improved cut control and surface blending over traditional coated flap and fiber discs, the company says. The blended fiber web is designed to dissipate workpiece debris, increasing product life and maintaining shape integrity. In addition, the Norton Clean Bond resin system is designed to prevent smearing and produce a controlled wear rate.

Twelve sizes of the discs are available in three non-woven types: quick-change discs from 2" to 4" TR attachment; hook and loop discs in both 7/8" hole and no hole from 4 1/2" to 7" in diameter; and speed-change discs from 4-1/2" × 5/8"-11 fastener to 7" × 7/8" fastener.
