Said to be the first of its kind, an automated in-house blackening system lowered per-part finishing costs from $0.20 to $0.04 at a manufacturer of industrial motion control products. The automated Tru Temp finishing system is said to provide consistent high-quality black oxide finishes that have helped reduce machining center setups on some components. The process works at relatively low temperature, reducing energy costs and improving worker safety.
