Nordson Corp.’s 100-kV Encore automatic powder spray gun is designed to reduce operating costs through more efficient coating and fewer part rejects. It combines the company’s Select Charge technology with Automatic Feedback Current (AFC) control, and is designed to work with the company’s iControl integrated control system to give operators adjustable parameter control to optimize system performance over a variety of part profiles and configurations.

In the AFC mode, the controller automatically adjusts electrostatic voltage output to maintain the optimal powder charge and external field strength, regardless of the gun-to-part distance, for uniform powder deposition. The iControl system uses the gun’s “smart flow” pneumatic control capability to set powder flow to achieve optimum coating efficiency and performance, the company says. A “classic flow” mode also is available for setting flow and atomizing air independently.

The gun is light and compact, and has an air-purge cleanable design and an easy-access powder pathway, enabling easy cleaning for fast color change without gun disassembly.
