Pyrene US 1002, an alkaline detergent formulated by Chemetall Oakite to remove metalworking fluids from ferrous substrates is low foaming and features a penetrating action that attacks fluids such as mill oils and drawing compounds for a thorough clean. The detergent then disperses the soils and rinses off completely and easily, according to the company. Depending upon the operating parameters, Pyrene US 1002 may be used on aluminum and zinccoated substrates with some chemical attack. The solution was developed primarily for use on steel, cast iron, and stainless steel.
