The bioremediating SmartWasher systems from ChemFree Corp. are designed to be safe, effective parts cleaners that reduce the release of VOCs and eliminate the generation of liquid hazardous wastes. They use an aqueous-based degreasing solution called OzzyJuice and microbe-impregnated particulate traps called OzzyMats. The microbes come to life in the solution and break down or “eat” the grease, oil and other contaminants introduced to the system during the cleaning process, turning them into harmless carbon-dioxide and water. According to the company, its degreasing solutions are non-caustic, non-flammable, pH-neutral and biodegradable solutions that work in concert with the microbes, to eliminate liquid hazardous waste generation.
