Birchwood Technologies’ Mini Presto Black line blackening system is designed for small production operations that require robust corrosion resistance and galling protection on critical surfaces for machine components. This process is engineered to produce a virtually non-dimensional coating of less than 0.5 micron thickness for components that require a black finish for visual appeal and rust protection. The short fifteen-minute process is designed to eliminate the hazards of the hot oxide process by operating at room temperature of 70°F. Designed for hot rolled steels, alloy steels, tool steels, cast iron, forged steels and powdered metal, this process protects the underlying metal from galling and deformation.
