Cup Brushes is a complete line of rugged tools intended for the fast, heavy-duty cleaning of metal surfaces. Designed for use on high-speed air and electric portable tools, this  cup brush line is suited for removing rust, weld scale, corrosion and old paint, as well as preparing surfaces for finishing. The Crimped Wire Cups are designed for soft brushing action and less severe applications, yet remain aggressive and maintain a long life. Knot-type Cups are available in both single and double row constructions, the former for general heavy-duty work with the ability to reach into corners and angles; the latter for more rigorous applications, combining fast cutting action with longer life to cover greater surface areas. Nylon filaments combined with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives make the Anderlon® Cup Brushes great tools for surface blending and final sandings prior to coating.

Surface finish types for commercially supplied stainless steel sheet are detailed in various standards. ASTM A480-12 and EN10088-2 are two; BS 1449-2 (1983) is still available, although no longer active. These standards are very similar in that they define eight grades of surface finish for stainless steel. Grade 7 is “buff polished,” while the highest polish—the so-called mirror polish—is designated Grade 8
