Cleaner Promotes Paint Adhesion, Salt Spray Resistance
Quaker Houghton product is a phosphorus-free cleaner and self-limiting coating for ferrous, aluminum and other nonferrous components.
Quaker Houghton’s Houghto-Prep ZP5 is a phosphorus-free cleaner and self-limiting coating for ferrous, aluminum and other nonferrous components in preparation for paint and other organic coatings. The company says Houghto-Prep ZP5 cleans and coats faster for short dwell times. It is designed to remove surface soils/oils using a zirconium-oxide chemistry to produce an amorphous coating that promotes paint adhesion and salt spray resistance. The technology is said to be easy-to-operate with efficient oil removal, while minimal removal of metal occurs, giving low levels of sludge and long bath life.
This alternative to TGIC-based polyester powder coatings offers similar performance and enhanced transfer efficiencies.
