Company will be displaying its AEROSIL® fumed silicas and AEROXIDE® Alu C fumed aluminum oxide, which improve the manufacturing process, quality and performance of powder coatings, while effectively meeting both market and regulatory demands. A small addition of AEROSIL® fumed silica to a powder coating prior to fine grinding will considerably improve its free flow properties. The electrostatic charge will not be negatively affected, whether the powder has a positive or negative charge. The use of hydrophobic AEROSIL® products will ensure a long-lasting charge due to its moisture protection. The generally very low amounts added to the powder coating formulation (approximately 0.5%) have no negative influence on powder coatings’ leveling during curing. Our AEROXIDE® Alu C product, unlike our AEROSIL® products, display a positive charge. For this reason, it is often used in powder coatings that are tribo-electrically applied, both to increase the electropositive chargeability of the powder coating and to regulate the flow properties.
