Dewalt has introduced a new cordless 16 GA angled finish nailer DCN660, which it calls its most advanced, light-weight and compact 20V MAX finish nailer with Extreme Runtime and powered strictly by a lithium ion battery.

With its efficient brushless motor, the DCN660 is a ‘ready to fire’ 16 GA cordless finish nailer that is designed to be the primary finish nailer for contractor’s, remodelers, trim and finish carpenters, and cabinet makers and installers.

It weighs just 6lbs — with a 2.0Ah battery — and is 2.3lbs lighter and 1 inch shorter in height that previous models.

I used it to set three doors, and it worked great. The best thing I found about the DCN660 is that there is no more carrying a lot of equipment into homes or buying noisy compressors. It actually works as well as any pneumatic nail gun I ever used, and is pretty light-weight.

Using the 2.0Ah battery that is included in the kit version, the 16 GA finish nailer drives up to 800 nails per charge in sequential mode. Because the DCN660 is compatible with all 20V MAX XR Dewalt lithium ion batteries, it’s also capable of driving up to 2,200 nails per charge in sequential mode when using Dewalt’s 20V MAX XR 5.0Ah battery.

I found some great convenient features, including a tool-free jam release, tool-free depth adjustment and tool-free stall release, which resets the driver blade without the need for tools. The cordless finish nailer features a simple tool-free selectable trigger system that allows its actuation mode to be changed from sequential fire to bump for fast pace work.

The nailer also includes an adjustable belt hook and multi-functional LED lights that illuminate application surfaces, blink when the battery is low, and alert the user if the finish nailer has stalled.

The DCN660D1 comes with one 2.0Ah battery, charger, and kit box and is expected to retail for approximately $399. The DCN660B bare tool is will retail for approximately $349.
