Amolea AT2 from AGC Chemicals Americas is a fluorinated precision cleaning solvent designed to be compatible with metals and solvent with a variety of press, cutting, silicone and refrigerant oils; greases; asphalt pitches; and fluxes.

The cleaner is a mixture of trans 1,2 dichloroethylene, HFE-347-pc-f and a fluorinated solvent, making it a safer alternative to traditional cleaning solvents made from n-propyl bromide and trichloroethylene, the company says. To optimize cleaning efficiency, economy and emission control, it should be used in a vapor degreaser. Common cleaning procedures consist of immersing a workload into the boiling solvent, rinsing or spraying with cool solvent, and drying in solvent vapor.

According to the company, the non-flammable solvent has no ozone-depletion potential and low global warming potential, and is energy efficient due to its low latent heat of vaporization, enabling users to more easily meet environmental regulations. Additional benefits include low surface tension; low viscosity and high liquid density; thermal, chemical and hydrolytic stability; and superior drying. In addition, it is recyclable, can be used with ultrasonics and is recoverable by simple distillation.
