Guyson Delivers Customized Dual Robotic Cell for Grit Blast Finishing

From design to assembly, Guyson offers integrated, customizable surface finishing machines and solutions. Guyson recently delivered a customized, dual robotic cell for surface preparation of blades and vanes. The fully automated, pressure feed grit blast system features an ABB IRB 140-6 six-axis robot for nozzle positioning and an ABB 1RB2600 for parts handling. The company’s custom robot suit is designed for abrasion protection and the systems are equipped with a Guyson’s Model 75/12 and D-2000 dust collector for media reclamation.

The robot utilizes a vision system for that identifies the correct incoming part has been placed in the correct tray. It then selects the correct tool and correct handling and blast program to execute the processing of each part.

The seventh axis control allows for independent part rotation during the blast cycle which optimizes the blast program increasing the speed, accuracy and ability to blast traditionally difficult areas to reach with precise blast coverage.
