Hexigone’s Intelli-ion is a chrome-free corrosion inhibitor that was developed in response to the EU’s recent ban on hexavalent chromate. The Hexigone inhibitor swaps chromate for ‘chemically intelligent’ pigments to help prevent corrosion.

The company says the product uses micro reservoirs that make the coatings responsive to the environment by triggering the release of their inhibitor, delivering self-healing of the material.
