KCH Engineered Systems will exhibit Smart exhaust fans that it says eliminate the need for belts and pulleys by coupling the fan wheel shaft directly with the motor shaft. Direct Drive fans have extended bearing and motor life, and no belts to maintain and replace. Fan speed and air volume is controlled via a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) system, which can be linked to and controlled by certain process conditions. The VFD control allows for a range of high- and low-speed settings, which can lead to significant operational utility cost savings.
