Dymax Corp. offers its SpeedMask 750, an ultraviolet/visible-light-curable masking resin featuring both temperature and chemical resistance. It is formulated to provide good surface protection during higher-temperature thermal spray coating, plasma spray, some HVOF processes and aggressive grit blasting. Additionally, this maskant can maintain adhesion during CNC machining. According to the company, resin cures on demand and saves hours of processing time when used as an alternative to labor-intensive manual taping or latex-based maskants with long cure cycles.

The resin holds its shape after application via the company’s spray or dispense equipment, and its pink color eases confirmation of placement. It cures tack-free after proper cure with Dymax light-curing systems for quicker handling, can be removed through peeling or incineration, and leaves no residue after removal on nonporous surfaces. The company recommends this resin for surface protection on components manufactured from nickel alloys, titanium alloys and cobalt chrome.
