“NASF is delighted to join this day of celebration of the industry, said Steve Brown, president of NASF. “Our members represent the best-in-class of the metal finishing industry and we’re pleased to have the opportunity this year to share our wide-ranging contributions to society – in the millions of products we rely on that are essential to modern life.”

This is all part of an effort to draw greater attention to today’s manufacturing environment and the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide.

“We believe that bringing community members inside finishing operations to see first-hand the safe, high-tech and innovative work environments that await those who pursue careers in surface finishing will only make the industry stronger,” says Karen McGlothlin, executive director of The Electrocoat Association.

There is an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the surface finishing sector who can design, program and operate technology. National Surface Finishing Day is designed to introduce young people and others in the community to the finishing and coating sector, the career opportunities available, and demonstrate the contributions surface finishing makes to the local economy.

Preliminary plans are being made for a panel of shops that take place in this year’s event on the NASF Management Stage at SUR/FIN2020. Visit nasfsurfin.com.

Products Finishing has best practices for National Surface Finishing Day for organizations to use a reference. There is also a tool kit that has tools and knowledge needed for shops and plants to promote NSFD to media and in the community.
