MacDermid Enthone Celebrates 100 Years

Founded in 1922, MacDermid Enthone reaches a 100 year milestone in serving a number of industries including a wide range of surface finishing applications.

MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions (MEIS), a technology developer of chemical compounds for surface coating applications and its holding company Elements Solutions (Waterbury, CT.) is celebrating the company’s 100 year anniversary.

Founded in 1922, in Waterbury CT, MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions is an amalgamation of several businesses and organizations that over the years have consolidated talent, technology, and infrastructure to create a global supplier with a strong tradition of innovation and service.

With the most recent acquisitions of Coventya and HSO; MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions has continued to enrich and enhanced the portfolio of products; added talent, and capabilities, and created a strong culture of diversity and inclusion. The company offers global manufacturing and technology development and offers service at a local level with one of the largest support networks in the industry.

Founded in 1922 by Archibald J. MacDermid, the organization started operations in Waterbury, CT. In 1966, the company became a publicly traded entity growing consistently introducing chemicals for submicron technology in 1981. The company had become a world leader in metal-finishing chemicals when in 1999 with an acquisition added flexographic printing capabilities to the portfolio of solutions. In 2015, MacDermid acquired Alent PLc, Enthone’s parent company, to become MacDermid Enthone.

Today, MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions innovates and manufactures chemical compounds and solutions for all surface-coating applications. The company says its technologies enhance the durability and aesthetics of an array of substrates from metallic to plastic. End-use applications for its solutions include aerospace and defense, automotive, electronics, luxury goods, energy, and sanitary.
