AkzoNobel Celebrates Long-Term Partnership With CNH
For more than 50 years, AkzoNobel has met CNH’s adapting demands, providing Interpon coatings for improved performance and color consistency in agricultural and construction machinery.
AkzoNobel (Reading, Pennsylvania) marks more than 50 years of partnership with CNH Industrial (Basildon, U.K.), a manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment, highlighting how its Interpon powder coatings contribute to durability, performance and color consistency to support CNH’s global competitiveness.
CNH is contended to be among the first to adopt powder coatings to protect its combine harvesters, balers and forage harvesters, transitioning from AkzoNobel’s industrial paints to Interpon ACE powder coatings 25 years ago. The AkzoNobel team assisted CNH in adapting its existing liquid line to accommodate powder, using the same floor space and oven.
Additionally, CNH was an early adopter of Interpon low-cure (Interpon ACE 2010 Low-E) powder coatings, which have helped the company reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
“We chose AkzoNobel because it has the global capability to develop the powder coatings we needed to adapt to new market demands and the demands of our own production facility,” says Frank Verhoye, who heads up paint central manufacturing at CNH at its Zedelgem plant in Belgium.
To meet evolving regulatory and environmental requirements, production shifted to a new generation of polyester products formulated without Triglycidyl Isocyanurate (TGIC). This change supported compliance with updated health and safety standards while aligning with broader sustainability objectives.
The Interpon team aided in creating colors that accurately matched those required by CNH brands. Since CNH products are often used in summer conditions, having a powder coating with high resistance to UV light was a significant advantage. These coatings also offer good resistance to corrosion caused by high humidity or liquid spills, such as diesel and oil.
Martina Lösgen, global segment and key account manager for ACE and CV within AkzoNobel Powder Coatings, expresses pride in the long-term partnership with CNH, stating, “We are looking forward to working with CNH on developing new product solutions that will help it to further reduce its carbon footprint and increase the long-life of the machinery and the future of its brands.”
