A Microscopic Study of Chromium Plating (1964)
This 1964 paper describes the first time that anyone had been able to photograph work of this type on chromium - the direct microscopic observation of the deposition of chromium on nickel and other basis metal surfaces. This classic study provided information on the effect of the surface condition of the substrate and plating variables on the initial stages of deposition, covering the growth to form a coherent deposit, and the later development of the cyclic pattern of cracking with its associated hydrogen gas evolution.

Electro-codeposition of MCrAlY Coatings for Advanced Gas Turbine Applications - 12th Quarterly Research Report
The aim of this research is to seek a sulfur-free plating solution for electro-codeposition of (Ni,Co)-CrAlY composite coatings. In this quarter, the coating plated in the sulfur-free, all-chloride plating solution with sodium lauryl sulfate wetting agent showed the best oxidation performance. This coating also demonstrated much better oxidation resistance that the bare CMSX-4 alloy.

A Novel, Structurally Colored Coating for Aluminum Alloys
A recent development based on porous anodized aluminum (PAA) and metal nanowire deposits is presented here, which may become a competitive alternative to paint and organic coatings. By controlling the conditions for anodizing and metal electrodeposition, coatings in a wide spectrum of colors can be produced, including greys, black, blues, purples and greens.
