The Electrocoat Association announced the winners of its 2022 Brewer Award and a new Lifetime Achievement Award Winner at ECOAT22 at the Omni ChampionsGate in Orlando, Florida on April 20th.

The Brewer Award is named for Dr. George E.F. Brewer, who is generally credited with the original idea of electrodeposition of paint through his work and research during the late 1950s at Ford Motor Company. The prestigious award recognizes individuals who stand out among the best in the field of electrocoating.

2022 Brewer Award winners include: 

  • For Promotion of the Technology, Rex Krohn, John Deere
  • For Paint and Process Technology, Chad Andreae, Therma-Tron-X Inc.
  • For Application of the Technology, Gary Orosz, PPG

Because of the cancelation of ECOAT2020 due to COVID, the Brewer Award winners for the 2020 year were also recognized at the normally biennial event and included:

  • For Promotion of the Technology, Tom Mueller, George Koch Sons
  • For Paint and Process Technology, Scott Yaeger, F.A.S.T. International
  • For Application of the Technology, John Zbiegien, PPG

Myers

Additionally, The Electrocoat Association presented a new award, The Lifetime Achievement Award, for those who have dedicated most of their career to the electrocoating industry to present solutions to industry problems and create an environment of innovation for new participants to learn. The first-ever recipient of The Lifetime Achievement Award was David Myers of Modine Manufacturing, whose career included stints at PPG, Milbank Systems and AST Electrofin. Myers was one of the Founding Members of The Electrocoat Association and has served on the Board of Directors since its founding and has held many Director positions, including President of The Association on three occasions.

Von Moll

The event also honored Anne Von Moll, who is retiring from her work at Gardner Business Media and has been a part of The Electrocoat Association since 1998. Von Moll was presented with a Service Award in recognition of her service to the Electrocoat Industry and The Electrocoat Association.

In addition to the awards, ECOAT22 spanned three days packed with keynote speakers, a technical conference, an exhibit night and a golf tournament. The event was a great success in reuniting the electrocoating industry after a four-year hiatus.
