The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will host the seventh virtual Technical Working Group meeting on April 26, 2022, from 2:00–4:00 p.m over Zoom. The meeting will discuss the amendments for the Airborne Toxics Control Measure for Chrome Plating and Chromic Acid Anodizing Facilities (Chrome Plating ATCM). Technical Working Group Meeting #7 will provide stakeholders an opportunity to continue working with CARB staff on amendments to the Chrome Plating ATCM. The working group will focus on the draft regulatory language for the Chrome Plating ATCM.

CARB staff is reportedly amending the Chrome Plating ATCM to address recent findings that show high levels of hexavalent chromium exposure in local communities. CARB staff will be looking for opportunities to further reduce hexavalent chromium emissions and exposure in communities, including evaluating the feasibility of using less toxic trivalent chromium or alternative approaches that would yield equivalent or better emission reductions.

More information about the meeting can be found on CARB’s website.
