Chicago's Able Electropolishing, which serves domestic and international companies with metal electropolishing, passivating and titanium anodizing services, has gained certification in ISO 13485:2003 and successfully renewed its ISO 9001: 2008.

Scott Potter, Able Electropolishing sales manager, says the certification details Able’s ability to provide medical equipment manufacturers with metal parts of the highest standard in safety and quality.

“Able has participated in the medical device market for many years, and our current customers include nationwide OEMs and contract manufacturers for medical devices,” Potter says. “This certification exemplifies our dedication, experience, and capability when it comes to servicing this vital industry.”

The certification was granted following a thorough review of Able’s equipment, facilities, staff and other factors indicative of the company’s quality control and production capabilities. The certification is valid for two years.

Founded by Zen Pokvitis in 1954, Able Electropolishing has made a number of innovations in the field of electropolishing. The company says it is the largest electropolishing specialist in the U.S., and serves the international metalworking community through its Chicago facility. Its 24/7 plant offers electropolishing of virtually any metal, including stainless steel, aluminum, copper, nickel, titanium, Nitinol and more.
