Powder Coating Monel Fasteners
Do fasteners (rivets) made from monel behave similar to stainless steel in that they require a pre-etching or abrading before a paint or powder coat?
Q.We need to paint or powder coat fasteners (rivets) made from monel. I would guess they behave similar to stainless steel, having a smooth, silvery finish and therefore require a pre-etching or abrading. Please confirm if this is correct. D. C.
A. Yes. Use either Silane or scuff the surface with sanding or grit blasting to obtain good powder adhesion.
