Hydrogen fuel storage systems purchased for Solaris hydrogen-electric buses
New Hexagon Purus supply agreement ramps up decarbonization of European public transportation sector.

Hexagon Purus (Oslo, Norway) has received purchase orders for the delivery of hydrogen fuel storage systems to European bus manufacturer Solaris (Bolechowo-Osiedle, Poland), worth approximately €6.4 million. The purchase orders can be viewed in conjunction with the previously announced long-term supply agreement with Solaris in November 2021. Hexagon Purus’ hydrogen fuel storage systems will be used to support Solaris’ roll-out of hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses in Europe following recent public tender win in Bologna, Italy.
In 2021, Hexagon Purus delivered hydrogen fuel storage systems for close to 200 Solaris hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses. Delivery of the additional systems is scheduled to be between Q3 2024 and Q1 2025.
“Solaris is a leading player in driving the zero-emission transition in European public transportation,” Michael Kleschinski, executive vice president of Hexagon Purus, contends. “We have a long-standing relationship with them and applaud their success in securing new contracts for hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses in Europe. We are committed to helping them decarbonize the European public transport sector.”
In addition to this new purchase agreement, Hexagon Purus has announced the opening of a new H2 cylinder manufacturing hub in Kassel, Germany and a Westminster, Maryland site in the U.S. in January 2023.
