Rosenboom Machine and Tool in Sheldon, Iowa will have a $16 million expansion of its facilities that includes adding in-house electroplating operations.

Rosenboom is a privately-owned company of 800 employees at three manufacturing locations, two in Iowa and one in Ohio. The company manufactures hydraulic cylinders, actuators, accumulators and high pressure gas springs that are used in agriculture, construction, military, material handling, refuse and waste handling, utilities, commercial transportation and mining applications.

Rosenboom officials said the expansion comes after receiving a production contract with the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command to make two key components of the suspension systems, a HPG spring and HPG pump. The company said they will build an in-house metal finishing operation that would chrome plate and finish steel tube and bar materials for the production requirements of its current manufacturing facilities.

“Rosenboom is excited about the possibility of constructing a new production facility here in Sheldon to facilitate and to support new business opportunities,” said Lary Rosenboom, company founder and president/CEO. “Sheldon is where our business began over 40 years ago, and this will be the eighth expansion of growth by Rosenboom in Sheldon.”
