Atotech’s BluCr is a trivalent hard-chrome plating process, offering the wear resistance and corrosion protection of hard-chrome without the hazards and risks of hexavalent chromium. The process is free of both hex-chrome and boric acid, complying with REACH regulations and reducing the potential risks to the environment and personnel typically associated with hard-chrome plating. It also uses either mixed-metal oxide or graphite inert anodes instead of toxic lead alloy anodes.

According to the company, this tri-chrome process has all the same benefits of its hex-chrome processes, including fast plating speed, high bath stability, and high hardness deposits and wear resistance.
