The building in Southfield was selected due to its location and architectural uniqueness and will require major renovations and modification, said Dave Meynell, Chairman, Dürr Inc. The facility will be expanded to include a validation building together with a testing and training center. By reusing the existing structure and incorporating innovative, cost-effective energy-saving technologies, Meynell said Dürr is demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and energy conservation.

Dürr sees its employees as the backbone of the company’s success. To retain and attract the best, Dürr is creating an environment of collaboration and communication. The office layout will be open with the emphasis being on efficient use of space, by using the latest in ergonomic work stations. Currently about 500 employees will move to the new campus.

“The Dürr Group has been present in Southeast Michigan for almost 45 years. This substantial investment highlights our commitment to the North American market, our customers and our employees,” said Meynell.

Detroit is still the center of automotive technology activities in North America and is supported by a solid supply base infrastructure. Southfield was selected due to its central location and easy access to the major freeways and customers. The local community has been very supportive of this project, underpinned by the efforts of the local authorities, from City Council to the Major’s office.

“We are excited that the Dürr Group will soon be joining the Southfield business community in this very important part of the city,” said Acting Mayor Donald Fracassi. “Their selection of Southfield for their new North American campus clearly illustrates that Southfield is open for business and continues to be one of Southeast Michigan’s leading business centers.”
